This past workshop was focused
on preparing for the North American Seminar. We began with Avodat Ha-Lev and
then broke off into the committees: Welcome, Chupar, Shabbaton, and
Farewell.
When a group of Jewish
teenagers sit and work intently for an hour, you know things are serious. The
fervor in which we worked was really rewarding, because what is better than
doing things for people you care about?
Then, we received a visit from
some Diller alumni, and a super special Israeli guest. Actually he was an
American Diller with a fake Israeli accent, but close enough. They answered
questions, mostly ones concerning school and work. The main point they
emphasized was that the stress and desperation of work become minimal when the
Israelis are here with you, and that all it will come down to is spending time
with them. The excitement in this tall beige room was almost tangible at this
point.
We then discussed the camps we
would be running this summer with the Israelis. This reminded us that this is
just the very beginning of our journey with our Israeli counterparts, and to
relish every moment of it. After another work session, our meeting came to a close.
It was the last time we would be just Americans, but I think we all felt that
Metro-LeZion was one group all along.
Happy Birthday, Corey!
